After one impressive sales surge from the past months, sales of Amazon’s Kindle Fire now is falling drastically. The days of Amazon’s “#1 bestselling, most gifted, and most wished for product” is now over.Kindle Fire’s sales dropped from 4.8 million from the fourth quarter of 2011 to less than 750,000 units last quarter. This is according to IDC’s review of worldwide tablet shipments for the 1st quarter of 2012.
Amazon’s Kindle Fire once held 16.8 percent global market share which was enough to make them in second place in IDC’s ranking of tablet vendors. Now, it only holds just above 4% which places them in third place behind Samsung.
In the first place and dominantly controlling the tablet sales is Apple’s iPad. iPads still hold more than half of the tablet sales with 55% market share in the first quarter of 2012.. They were once 68% last 2011. But still, it is enough to make them No.1.
